The project of a research team from I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, entitled “Enhancing the Effectiveness of Limb Function Recovery in Military Personnel with Amputations and Injuries,” has won the largest competition of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) in 2025 — “Frontier Science in Ukraine 2026–2028.”
The project is led by Professor Oleksandr Kamyshnyi, with Professor Iryna Kamyshna, Associate Professor Iryna Halabitska, and Associate Professor Pavlo Petakh among the project performers.

The project envisages the use of a multidisciplinary approach that integrates clinical, psycho-emotional, and molecular-biological indicators, including markers of neuroplasticity, for a comprehensive assessment of recovery processes. The primary objective of the study is to develop scientifically grounded, individualized neurorehabilitation strategies that enhance recovery efficiency and improve the quality of life for injured military personnel.
According to the NRFU Scientific Council, a total of 318 applications underwent scientific and scientific-technical evaluation. As a result, 137 projects were selected as winners of the “Frontier Science in Ukraine 2026–2028” competition. The results of the competitive selection are published on the official website of the NRFU.
We congratulate the scientists of TNMU on this significant achievement.
