TNMU Institute of Nursing Joins the WHO Open Dialogue on Nursing Education

On December 10, 2025, an Open Dialogue dedicated to current issues in the development of nursing education in Ukraine was held in Kyiv. The event served as a professional platform for discussing modern approaches to the training of nursing professionals, bringing together representatives of public authorities, medical education institutions, international partners, healthcare practitioners, and the student community.

The discussion focused on updating the content of educational programs, improving the quality of practical training for future nurses, developing modern professional competencies, and highlighting the role of student leadership in modernizing nursing education.

Svitlana Danchak, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Nursing of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, and Khrystyna Yuskiv, a first-year master’s student of the Institute of Nursing, participated in the event. In particular, during the panel discussion “Leadership and Student Engagement in the Modernization of Medical Education,” Khrystyna Yuskiv’s presentation demonstrated the active involvement of students in professional dialogue and in shaping the future of nursing education not only at TNMU but across Ukraine.

To build a future in which nursing holds a well-deserved status and the profession becomes prestigious, it is essential to conduct such Open Dialogues. These initiatives foster experience sharing, the development of interinstitutional cooperation, and the formation of a shared vision for the field’s further development, taking into account the needs of the healthcare system and the role of the younger generation of professionals.
