Meeting with Spiritual Leaders Borys Gudziak and Hlib Lonchyna at TNMU

A meeting with spiritual leaders and moral authorities of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, whose example and wisdom inspire and deepen the understanding of life values, took place on January 26, 2026, at Ternopil National Medical University. Faculty members and students had the opportunity to communicate with Archbishop and Metropolitan of Philadelphia, member of the Permanent Synod of the UGCC, President of the Ukrainian Catholic University Borys Gudziak, and Bishop Emeritus of the Eparchy of the Holy Family in London and former Apostolic Administrator of the Eparchy of Saint Volodymyr the Great in Paris, Hlib Lonchyna.

The meeting began with the TNMU choir performing the prayer “Our Father.”

Acting Rector of the University, Mykhailo Korda, noted that the day of the meeting with spiritual leaders was special, as their life example serves as a model of profound sacrifice and deep spirituality. “We are pleased to welcome you within the walls of Ternopil National Medical University, because a medical university is not only about professional skills and modern technologies, about education and knowledge. A medical university is, first and foremost, about compassion and responsibility. It is impossible to effectively treat the physical body while neglecting the patient’s soul. Meetings with spiritual leaders, who support and guide through simple and sincere dialogue, are extremely important,” Mykhailo Korda emphasized.

Those present had the opportunity to engage in open communication with the distinguished guests and ask them questions.

The meeting concluded with the university choir performing Christmas carols.
