Solomiya Savchuk Wins the Hero of Ukraine Serhiy Konoval Scholarship

The selection committee of Ternopil National Medical University, together with Olha Konoval, Director of the public organization “Serhiy Konoval Foundation,” has for the third time chosen the winners of the named scholarship dedicated to the memory of our graduate, Serhiy Konoval.

The main scholarship will be awarded to Solomiya Savchuk, while encouraging scholarships will be granted to Bohdan Sakhnyuk and Marta Pylypa.

A few words about our scholarship recipients:

Solomiya Savchuk has been an active member of the All-Ukrainian public organization “Sokil Svobody” and the Ternopil Regional Youth Public Organization “Sokil Svobody” since 2019. During her activities, Solomiya has participated in numerous events, including organizing tactical medicine training sessions, patriotic training camps, volunteer activities, and projects. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, she has been actively volunteering.

Bohdan Sakhnyuk has been a volunteer with the Rapid Response Team of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in Ternopil Region since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He actively participated in providing emergency assistance and humanitarian support to the population at sites of rocket attacks and other emergency situations; in receiving evacuation trains with wounded servicemen; in transporting low-mobility and vulnerable population groups; and in duty shifts during mass sports and public events. He is a co-organizer of the “RedLine” blood donor community, which promotes voluntary and regular blood donation among young people and the medical community.

Marta Pylypa has proven herself to be a creative and disciplined student throughout her studies. She actively participates in student self-government, serves as an instructor in the Ukrainian Red Cross’s charitable activities, and volunteers. Over the past year, Marta Pylypa has been actively involved in a scientific circle. She has prepared conference abstracts for publication on the adaptation of first-year students to studying at a medical university, and work on a scientific article with a similar title is nearing completion.

The scholarship was established by the Serhiy Konoval Foundation to support students of our university who demonstrate significant achievements in public, volunteer, and patriotic activities. This financial award will encourage young people to be more active and conscious members of Ukrainian society, to form a patriotic life stance, to develop leadership qualities, and to be responsible and devoted to Ukraine.

The competition for the scholarship named after Hero of Ukraine Serhiy Konoval is announced every academic semester.

Students who meet the following criteria may apply for the scholarship:

demonstrate high moral responsibility toward society.

are active members of public organizations at various levels (university, city, regional, or national) that contribute to overall societal development and promote volunteer and civic activities;

have achievements in sports, cultural, volunteer, scientific, or public events, confirmed by diplomas and/or certificates;
