TNMU Continues Three-Year Tradition of Providing Free Dental Care to Ukraine’s Defenders
For the past three years, the Dental Department of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University has been providing free dental care to combatants, persons with war-related disabilities, foreign contract servicemen, and individuals released from captivity.
The TNMU Dental Department operates under two main National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) programs – dental prosthetics and dental treatment. The head of the department, Volodymyr Machohan, noted that over the past year, there were a total of 5,350 requests for dental care, including 378 first-time visits from military personnel. In addition, internally displaced persons visit the department; this year, 76 such patients visited. The department also provides care for students, with 537 visits over the year.

Overall, this year, the department performed 337 surgical procedures to address the dental issues of military personnel. Furthermore, 980 defenders received therapeutic treatment, and 285 received orthopedic prosthetics.
The symbolic summary of the Dental Department’s work coincides with International Dentist Day. We sincerely congratulate the team on their professional holiday. Your work is not only about healthy smiles but also about restoring quality of life and supporting the rehabilitation of our defenders. We wish you boundless energy, professional growth, and all the best. May every saved smile of a patient be your greatest reward!
