TNMU Signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Ternopil Academic Lyceum “Prostir 28”

On March 9, 2026, the leadership of the Ternopil Academic Lyceum “Prostir 28” — Director Liliia Vavryniv, along with her deputies for educational work Liudmyla Ostrovska and Olha Borshchuk — visited Ternopil National Medical University to discuss areas of cooperation in light of the ongoing reform of secondary education. This reform focuses on developing competencies for successful self-realization in society.

Representing the university administration were Vice-Rector for Science and Education, Professor Arkadii Shulhai; Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Ivan Klishch; Acting Dean of the Medical Faculty, Associate Professor Svitlana Kucher; and Head of the Legal Department, Taras Borys.

During the meeting, TNMU Rector, Professor Petro Lykhatskyi, emphasized that the university would make every effort to strengthen the educational capacity of Lyceum “Prostir 28”. According to him, this partnership will also help attract highly motivated applicants for whom medical specialties become a true life calling.

Liliia Vavryniv noted that there is significant interest among lyceum students in studying Latin, the basics of psychology, and similar subjects. “A substantial portion of our young people are purposefully preparing to enter medical specialties. We would like to help make their choice more conscious,” the director added.

TNMU representatives proposed introducing programs in hygiene (adapted to the lyceum’s curriculum requirements), fundamentals of clinical psychology, medical informatics, biochemistry, and other subjects.

A separate area of cooperation will involve mastering basic health protection competencies at the university’s simulation training center. Lyceum students will learn high-quality first aid skills — life-saving techniques.

At the end of the meeting, TNMU Rector Petro Lykhatskyi and Lyceum Director Liliia Vavryniv signed the cooperation agreement.
