Specialists of the TNMU Mental Health Center Conducted a Training at the Chortkiv “House of Mercy”
On March 10, 2026, specialists from the Mental Health Center of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University visited Chortkiv. A training and practical event took place at the “House of Mercy,” which operates under the Chortkiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The event focused on one of the most pressing issues in helping professions—professional burnout.

Workers in care and support sectors face the pain and needs of vulnerable populations on a daily basis. Continuous emotional strain without proper recovery can lead to exhaustion. That is why the specialists of the TNMU Mental Health Center placed particular emphasis on supporting these professionals.
During the intensive session, participants, together with experts, explored:
- the anatomy of stress: understanding the mechanisms of burnout development and its early symptoms;
- emotional resilience: analyzing the specifics of long-term caregiving stress;
- practical tools: mastering self-regulation techniques and methods for rapid restoration of internal resources;
- team ecosystem: discussing the importance of mutual support within teams and establishing healthy professional boundaries.
“Awareness of one’s own resources is not selfishness, but a fundamental condition for providing quality care. We cannot pour from an empty jug, which is why caring for the mental well-being of staff must be a priority,” the center’s representatives emphasized.

The TNMU Mental Health Center continues to expand its work with professionals in the helping fields. Cooperation with church institutions and charitable organizations enables the creation of a reliable support network for those who bear the burden of the social front.
