TNMU Associate Professor Presents AI-Based Solutions for Combat Trauma Diagnosis at an International Seminar in Sweden

Andrii Pavlyshyn, Associate Professor of the Department of General Surgery at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, participated in the international seminar “AI-Driven Cybersecurity: Strengthening European Research Collaboration in AI-Enabled Cybersecurity” at the invitation of Halmstad University, Sweden.

Halmstad University is a modern public higher education institution recognized for its innovative research in information technology, innovation sciences, and health. The international seminar brought together leading researchers and experts in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity from more than six countries to discuss current developments in AI, cybersecurity, and international research collaboration.

As one of the keynote speakers, Andrii Pavlyshyn presented the results of his research conducted within the framework of the international project “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.” His presentation highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence for the remote identification and classification of wound defects resulting from both combat-related and civilian injuries.

The research also demonstrated the application of various types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) integrated with AI-based analytical systems, infrared and thermal imaging cameras, as well as high-resolution (4K and 8K) imaging technologies. These integrated solutions have the potential to improve remote assessment and diagnosis of traumatic injuries, particularly in emergency and conflict settings.

The presented research attracted considerable interest from fellow scientists and international partners, providing a foundation for further scientific discussions and the development of new collaborative research initiatives in related fields.

Halmstad University is home to several state-of-the-art research facilities, including the renowned Rydberg Laboratory, an interdisciplinary research and innovation centre that brings together expertise in energy systems, materials science, biology, digital manufacturing, and medicine. The laboratory serves as an innovation hub where researchers, students, academic staff, and industry partners collaborate using advanced technologies and cutting-edge research infrastructure.

As part of the seminar programme, Andrii Pavlyshyn also participated in working sessions dedicated to the preparation of international research grant proposals under the Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ programmes. Together with colleagues from partner institutions, he contributed to identifying promising directions for future international cooperation in artificial intelligence research.
