TNMU Head of the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education Participates in National Round Table on Physical Therapy Education

On June 30, 2026, the All-Ukrainian Round Table of Heads of Higher Education Departments Specialising in Physical Therapy was held in Kyiv. The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions, government authorities, the professional community, and experts involved in the project to discuss key issues related to physical therapy education in Ukraine.

I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University was represented by Professor Dariia Popovych, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education.

The discussions focused on the future of physical therapist education in Ukraine. Participants addressed current challenges facing higher education, the modernisation of educational standards, the practical preparedness of graduates, and the role of formal education in advancing the profession.

Particular attention was given to aligning educational programmes more closely with the actual needs of Ukraine’s rehabilitation system. The participants discussed the scope of professional practice for physical therapists, the quality of master’s degree training, the assessment of professional competencies, and the implementation of contemporary educational standards.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Rehab4U Project, and the Scientific and Methodological Centre for Higher and Professional Pre-Higher Education.
