Associate Professors of TNMU Participated in a WHO Training on Mental Disorder Management under the mhGAP Programme

Associate Professors Oksana Sydorenko and Neonila Korylchuk of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University successfully passed the WHO selection process and participated in the training “Clinical Management of Mental Disorders under the mhGAP Programme” (Part 2), which took place in Lviv on July 7–10, 2026.

Since 2018, at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and in cooperation with partners, the World Health Organization has been supporting the implementation of the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) in Ukraine. The scaling up of mhGAP is coordinated by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine within the framework of the National Mental Health Programme, an initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine.

mhGAP trainings and supervision activities are organized under the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Mental Health, signed by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the WHO Country Office in Ukraine, and international and national partners working to implement mental health services at the primary healthcare level. As of February 2026, more than 8,700 professionals had completed mhGAP training, including family physicians, pediatricians, internists, paramedics, and nurses.
