TNMU Representatives Participate in the International Conference “The AMEE Conference 2026 Featuring The Integrated Ottawa Event”

On August 22–26, 2026, Associate Professor of the Department of Emergency Medical Care Oksana Sydorenko and Ilona Kohut, a sixth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine, participated in one of the world’s most prestigious conferences in the field of medical education and innovative approaches to healthcare professional training — The AMEE Conference 2026, which was held in Vienna, Austria.

The first plenary session opened with Nelson Mandela’s famous words that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” These words became the true value and motto of all five days of the AMEE 2026 conference. The event brought together nearly 4,000 educators, researchers, physicians, representatives of governmental institutions, and students from around the world. A total of 2,000 speakers from 79 countries presented their work.

Oksana Sydorenko presented a study devoted to a multilevel educational initiative aimed at developing clinical reasoning in Ukraine, which generated genuine interest among the international professional community.

The conference programme was diverse and intensive, covering such topics as examinations, clinical reasoning, problem-based learning, visual thinking strategies, artificial intelligence, global learning, leadership, patient-centred care and patient safety, simulation-based education, curricula, interprofessional collaboration, mental health of students and educators, sustainable development and planetary health, trust, peer learning, communication, and many others. Overall, the topics addressed during the conference clearly reflected current challenges and issues in medical education and encouraged participants to seek ways to overcome them.

The conference participants express their sincere gratitude to the Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Medical Education Development” for the organisational and financial support that made their participation in AMEE 2026 possible.
