TNMU Student and EduSpace Organisation Expand Ternopil Youth’s Knowledge of India

Intercultural dialogue, new knowledge, and inspiration for learning were at the heart of a cultural and educational event entitled “India Meets Ukraine”. The event was initiated by the EduSpace organisation in cooperation with representatives of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU). More than 50 curious students from Ternopil Secondary School No. 29 took part in the event, whose main goal was to promote intercultural understanding and foster friendly ties between the young people of the two countries.

The event’s speaker was TNMU student Vikash Kumar Gupta. He introduced the schoolchildren to India’s centuries-old history, traditional festivals, diverse culinary traditions, and rich cultural heritage. In addition to providing a theoretical overview, the speaker sincerely shared his personal experience of pursuing education from India to Ukraine, as well as his experience of adapting to and living in Ternopil.

The presentation developed into a lively interactive question-and-answer session. The Ukrainian schoolchildren showed great interest in the experiences of international students at TNMU, Indian traditions, and the similarities between Indian and Ukrainian cultures.

Special attention during the meeting was devoted to a motivational session on the importance of English language proficiency. In today’s world, English serves as an indispensable tool for international communication and academic exchange, access to quality higher education, and integration into the global community. It also opens up new career opportunities, making English particularly important for future healthcare professionals and specialists in any field.

The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere of mutual interest and respect. The schoolchildren learned about India directly from someone who knows the country and its culture firsthand, gaining knowledge that goes far beyond the standard school curriculum, as well as strong motivation to improve their language skills.

We sincerely thank EduSpace founder Natalia Trachuk for this important initiative and for creating an effective platform for intercultural communication. We also thank the administration of Ternopil Secondary School No. 29 for its hospitality, openness, and support for educational projects.

The event once again demonstrated TNMU’s international values: openness to the world, a commitment to knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of friendly ties between nations through education and mutual understanding.
