Open4UA Invites Everyone Working or Studying in Ukraine’s Higher Education and Research System to Take Part in a National Survey

From 1 to 23 October 2026, the Open4UA project invites everyone working or studying in Ukraine’s higher education and research system to take part in a national survey.

Completing the questionnaire takes approximately 10–15 minutes. Each participant is randomly assigned one of three questionnaires:

  • Reproducibility and Open Science: what practices you know and use, and what helps or prevents you from applying them.
  • Research Assessment: your views on the new national research assessment system and the criteria used to evaluate your work.
  • Open Science and Intellectual Property: how you share your research results and balance openness with protecting your work.

The survey is open to researchers, academic and teaching staff, PhD students, library and repository staff, open science support professionals, research managers, and university leadership. Your opinion matters even if you have never applied open science practices.

The survey is anonymous. No names, email addresses, or IP addresses are collected, and no one, including the Ministry or your institution, will be able to link your responses to you. Anonymized data will be made publicly available. The study has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University (Protocol No. 9.1/2026).

The results will help shape national policy on open science and research assessment, support meta-research, and enable comparisons between Ukraine and the results of surveys conducted in 45 countries, as well as in the United Kingdom and Slovakia. The survey continues a series of studies on attitudes towards open science initiated by the OPTIMA project in 2021.

The survey is conducted as part of the Erasmus+ Open4UA project (Grant Agreement No. 101129085), coordinated by Lviv Polytechnic National University in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and international research partners. TNMU is a member of the consortium. The questionnaires were developed with contributions from colleagues from the Slovak Reproducibility Network, the Research on Research Institute (RoRI), and the IP4OS project.
