TNMU joins the international scientific conference ‘Modern Chemistry of Medicines’

On October 15-17, 2026, the international scientific conference ‘Modern Chemistry of Medicines’ was held in Lviv, organized by the Ukrainian Society for Medicinal Chemistry on the basis of the National University of Pharmacy (NUPh) and Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University (LNMU). The event brought together Ukrainian and foreign scientists, educators, young researchers, and students to discuss current advances in medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry, drug development, and the improvement of analytical methods.

Ternopil National Medical University was represented through scientific presentations, participation in the poster session, educational events, and professional discussions.

Professor Liliya Logoyda, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at TNMU, delivered a plenary presentation titled ‘Beyond Traditional Analysis: New Horizons in Pharmaceutical and Bioanalytical Science.’ The presentation covered current trends in pharmaceutical and bioanalytical analysis, innovative analytical approaches, and prospects for improving drug research.

During the conference’s poster session, postgraduate students from TNMU’s Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry presented the results of their research. Khrystyna Chemna presented a study on evaluating the pre-validation characteristics of a method for determining impurities in inosine pranobex substance, including the study of the robustness and stability of solutions.

Yurii Ihnatsevych presented research on the correlation analysis of the chromatographic behavior of lipophilic statins and ezetimibe during their simultaneous determination by reversed-phase liquid chromatography. His flash presentation earned 2nd place, a significant recognition of the relevance of the research and the university’s scientific achievements.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to educational and practical activities. TNMU 5th-year students took part in master classes and training sessions held at America House Lviv and at the Center for Molecular Design, Drug Research, and Biologically Active Compounds. Participation in these events gave students the opportunity to learn about modern approaches to drug discovery and development, deepen their professional knowledge, and gain hands-on experience.

On the third day of the conference, Professor Liliya Logoyda, Head of TNMU’s Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, took part in a meeting of departments with the same academic profile, dedicated to teaching the ‘Pharmaceutical Chemistry’ educational component. Participants discussed current issues in organizing the educational process, training students in higher pharmaceutical education, and improving approaches to assessing their knowledge, including matters related to the ‘KROK 2’ exam.

An important event for the Ukrainian scientific community was the accession of the Ukrainian Society for Medicinal Chemistry to the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (EFMC). This opens new opportunities for international scientific cooperation, participation in European research initiatives, experience exchange, and further integration of Ukrainian medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry into the European scientific space.

The participation of TNMU representatives in the ‘Modern Chemistry of Medicines’ conference contributed to the exchange of scientific results, the development of inter-university cooperation, the improvement of students’ practical training, and discussions on current issues in pharmaceutical education.
