Canadian expert Renata Roman gave master classes for TSMU professors and students

Recently, founder and owner of Clarkson Sports & Physio Clinic in Toronto, Canada Renata Roman made a working visit to Ternopil State Medical University. Ms. Roman is a vice president and international coordinator of the Congress of Ukrainian Canadians. She has previously visited our university giving a series of lectures on physical rehabilitation.

Meeting with Ternopil State Medical University rector Professor Mykhaylo Korda, Renata Roman discussed cooperation between TSMU and University of Toronto department of medical rehabilitation, in particular the possibility of implementing an academic exchange program for professors and students. In Ms. Roman’s opinion, Canadian experience in the organization of higher education and practical medicine will contribute to professional development of our specialists. The new knowledge and skills can be then implemented in our country.

Likewise, there are many Canadian specialists willing to come to Ternopil to read courses to our students and share their experience with professors and medical practitioners.

Renata Roman delivered a lecture “The Role of the Physical Therapist in the Rehabilitation Process” and gave a master class “Physical Rehabilitation for Diseases of the Musculoskeletal System” for Faculty of Medicine students studying specialties Human Health, Physical Rehabilitation, and Physical Therapy.

“The main aim is to give an understanding of the importance of physical therapist in medical practice and the importance of this profession in worldwide. In each country, the emphasis is placed on ensuring that a person, after surgical interventions and injuries, can physically rehabilitate as quickly as possible, feel comfortable and confident, ” added Ms. Roman.

Renata Roma visited University Hospital and learned about its work; she also visited  the rehabilitation department of Ternopil Regional Communal Psychoneurological Hospital.
