Certified TNMU Trainer Taught Nurses Basic Emergency Care

On March 11-15, 2024, Educational and Scientific Centre for Medical Simulations of the Simulation Centre of O. Bohomolets National Medical University hosted BEC (Basic Emergency Care) training for 24 medical workers. The event was held with the support of the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Emergency Medicine. The vast majority of training participants were nurses from various medical institutions in Kyiv region.

The professional team of trainers Yuliia Boyko, Serhii Sereda, Yuliia Danylevych (TNMU), Yelena Trofimovych, Kateryna Barabash and master trainer Pauline Convocar not only shared their knowledge and practical skills, but also discussed with the participants of the program difficult moments and cases that they may come across in their practical activities.

After theoretical classes, medical specialists mastered practical skills on mannequins and appropriate equipment in clinical scenarios as close as possible to the conditions of real events.

The organizers and trainers made every effort to ensure that the participants mastered the program theoretically and practically. After completing the training, each participant received a certificate, and their mentors expressed their sincere appreciation. Another pleasant bonus for the participants was receiving 25 CPD points.

Yuliia Boiko, Serhii Sereda, Yuliia Danylevych, Yelena Trofimovych, Kateryna Barabash received their well-deserved certificates of BEC coaches within the framework of this course. Similar trainings will soon take place in Vinnytsia, Poltava, and Odesa.

With the aim of implementing the Basic Emergency Care course in Ukraine and the need to create a group of Ukrainian BEC trainers, WHO organized 10 courses in the first quarter of 2024 among employees of higher education institutions. The BEC course was developed by the World Health Organization in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM). The guarantor of the “Nursing” training program for bachelor’s, Yuliia Danylevych successfully completed the Basic Emergency Care and TfT (“Teachers for Teachers”) courses and received a certificate of a potential trainer of the BEC course.
