Colleagues from MacEwan University visited TSMU

For several years now TSMU maintained cooperation ties with Canadian MacEwan University, and within this framework a number of important projects have already been implemented. On July 21, 2017 associate professor of the Department of Nursing Elizabeth Burgess-Pinto and instructor-methodologist of the same department Christine Shumka met with rector of Ternopil State Medical University Professor Mykhaylo Korda.

During the meeting, the Canadian specialists had introduced Global Health workshop, a program they then presented on July 25 to the participants of this year’s International Student Summer camp, taking place at Chervona Kalyna Academic and Recreation Complex.  The workshop was, in essence, a short version of the training course that will potentially be included into the study course of TSMU Institute of Nursing.

Also during the meeting Christine Shumka offered to support deserving students training to become nurses. Christine’s father came from Ukraine, thus he expressed a desire to make a personal contribution to the studies of talented young people. Soon, the best students of the Institute of Nursing will be able to receive scholarships. Canadian colleagues will draw up guidelines for the selection of students to receive the awards.
