Eight thousand prospective students apply to study in Ternopil State Medical University

Ternopil State Medical University has finished accepting applications and documents for the next academic year. 7,949 young people applied for both state and individual financed programs of study as of August 2, 2016. As a comparison, last year this number was 7,447 people, and in 2014 – 6,634 people.

As in previous years, the specialty of Medicine was the most popular. 4,366 people applied for 500 available spaces the University has a state license to accept. Of those, 200 will be state-financed. Last year, 2,950 students applied for the specialty Medicine meaning that interest in this specialty increased by 50%. Some applicants applied to enroll on the second year of the study program after completing a pre-med course. This year there were 272 second-year applications for 65 licensed spaces.

1,297 people applied to study the specialty of Dentistry. This specialty has 4 state-financed spaces with total licensed number being 150. Last year, the specialty received 1,173 applications. The admissions committee has also received 74 applications for the enrollment on the second year of the program, competing for 60 licensed spaces.

The specialty of Pharmacy has attracted total of 892 applications compared to last year’s 1,024.

Bachelor’s program for the specialty Nursing attracted 249 applicants for full-time study and 107 for distance study. Fifty people applied for distance Master’s program in Nursing.  Last year these numbers were respectively 131, 84 and 41 applicants.

Each year increases the number of applicants for the program in Physical rehabilitation. During this year’s admission campaign 178 applicants compete for 30 license spaces.

According to TSMU admissions procedure, a list of applicants recommended for enrollment on state-financed programs was publicized on August 1, 2026 This information can be accessed directly on the web page of the admissions committee . All applicants recommended for enrollment on state-financed programs, have until 18.00 on August 5 to submit original documents to the admissions committee. If they do not, they lose their place to study on state-funded program.

This year, Ternopil State Medical University took fourth place among higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine by the number of applications. This indicates that popularity of the University among prospective students increases each year.
