History, Culture, Monuments and Famous People of Ternopil Region

The teachers and students of the Department of Physiology, Bioethics and Biosafety distantly delivered an educational event for international students and students of the normative term of study of curatorial groups on “History, culture, monuments and famous people of Ternopil region. History of TNMU”.

Professor Vadziuk S.N., the Head of the Department, presented students of curatorial groups who prepared interesting presentations about the history, culture, monuments, famous people of Ternopil region in Ukrainian and English. It should be noted that in addition to Ternopil districts, the history of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University was also prepared for this educational event which was very interesting for the audience, half of which were international students. International students and students of the normative term of study of curatorial groups willingly learned the history of their university.

Ilchyshyn Nazarii, a student of the group 291, presented a report about the history of TNMU and monuments of the city of Ternopil. Over the past 10 years, university scientists have received 602 patents for inventions. New methods of treatment of burn wounds have been developed at the university that was awarded with the State Prize of Ukraine in science and technology. 2 scientists are honoured inventors of Ukraine. 58 doctoral and 282 PhD dissertations were defended. The participants also learned the biography of Ivan Horbachevsky.

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, the Ternopil Taras Shevchenko Academic Regional Ukrainian Drama Theatre, Ternopil Lake are the monuments which were covered in the report.

Kyrunchyk Oleh (a student of the group290) and Delii Dmytro (a student of the group287) reported on “History, culture, monuments of Zalishchyky and Zalishchyky district”. Zalishchyky is a former Polish resort. It is a famous tourist destination because of the Dniester River, which is a city panorama. The audience were interested in monuments, and the St. Stanislaus parish church, the Brunytski Palace, the former building of the Polish Falcon society, which welcomed the famous Ukrainian singer Solomiia Krushelnytska.

 

The Dniester Canyon National Nature Park has been established on the territory of Zalishchyky district. On the outskirts of Zalishchyky on both sides of the Dniester there are Zhezhavskyi, Obizhevskyi state botanical reserves and the Kryve tract. In the area of the Kasperivskyi Reservoir on the Seret River there is a state landscape reserve. There is a recreation center “Rosynka” near the village of Kasperivtsi and a school camp “Romashka” in the Chervone tract near the village of Nyrkiv.

The audience was interested in the facts about the cultural heritage of the city of Chortkiv and Chortkiv district presented by Kulchytska Natalia and Ksenych Oles, the students of the group 288. That is, Chortkiv Castle of the Golski, the Church of the Mother of God, St. Rosary and St. Stanislaus Churches, the Church of the Holy Intercession, the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Cathedral of the Supreme Apostles Peter and Paul.

Interesting facts were presented about Mlynky gypsum caves, a national geological natural monument in Ukraine. They are located near the village of Zalissia, Chortkiv district, Ternopil region. The labyrinths of the cave lie 10-20 meters beneath the ground.

Ivan Kshevskyi, a student of the group 291, told about the city of Buchach, i.e. interesting historical and architectural monuments: the Town Hall, the castle, the Basilian Monastery, the Church of the Assumption, the Church of the Intercession, St. Nicholas Church, the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God, the ruins of a church in the Monastyrok tract near the city.

Zamoiska Nadiia (a student of the group290) reported on the city of Berezhany and Berezhany district, that is interesting historical and architectural monuments (the Town Hall, Syniavskyi Castle, Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Church of the Holy Trinity, Udine Quarter, Church of St. Nicholas), nature reserves and tourism (Monastyrok tracts, Lysonia mountain, Raiivskyi arboretum).

The audience was interested in the video facts presented by Cherevat Vasyl and Oleh Kokhanskyi, the students of group 286, on the topic “My native land is Husiatyn district”. The territory of the district is located on the Podilska Upland, the surface is divided by the valleys of the left tributaries of the Dniester River (the largest – Zbruch and Nichlava) and the right tributaries of the river Zbruch (the largest – Hnyla and Taina). Interesting historical and architectural monuments are Sydoriv Castle, Husiatyn Synagogue, Samoluskovets Church. Also the students presented famous people of the Husiatyn region: Ivan Puliui, Bohdan Lepkyi, Pinkhas Lavon and others.

The presentation of Sapok Vasyl, a student of group 287, was on “Online tour of the city of Kremenets”. People can visit the castle hill there, from which the whole city can be seen, visit the mysterious catacombs and hear more than a hundred local legends and myths, these all in one of the oldest cities in Ukraine – Kremenets. Its name comes from the word “flint” – a mineral that is abundant in the Kremenets Mountains! Places of interest in Kremenets are: the castle mountain or Mount Bona in honour of the wife of Polish King Sigismund I; botanical garden, on the basis of which Fomin Botanical Garden in Kyiv was created; quarries, the stone of which was extracted both for construction of the city and for the manufacture of tombstones for the ancient Jewish cemetery.

The maiden rocks are one more interesting place in Kremenets. According to the legend, after taking the most expensive Ukrainian treasures, that is girls; the Tatars led them through the mountains, but were so tired that they had to sleep. The girls meanwhile ran away, but one of them was frightened and shouted loudly. The enemies surrounded the girls from all sides, but the Ukrainian women decided not to surrender, and all together tied their braids and rushed from the mountains into the abyss.

Fans of winter sports can visit the ski jumps and the oldest toboggan run in Ukraine.

Very interesting information was presented by Olha Prysiazhniuk (a student of the group 286) on “My cherished and precious land”, Shumsk district, Uhorsk village. Archaeological sites of the late Paleolithic and ancient Russ culture have been discovered near Uhorsk. There are also many different mountains: Horodysko Mountains, Stosy Mountains, Hrytska Mountain, Kostyushchyna Mountain, Lysa Mountain, Vyrubky.
