International Research and Training Conference “New Generation of Nurses: Achievements and Innovations in Nursing” at TNMU

On November 25-26, 2021, the International Research and Training Conference “New Generation of Nurses: Achievements and Innovations in Nursing” was held at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.

The conference was organized by the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology and the Centre for Nursing Development of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Higher Innovative School “Collegium of Mazovia” (Siedlce, Poland), Ukrainian Centre for Resources and Development of McEwan University (Edmonton, Canada) and the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada). The event joined more than 450 scientists from around the world.

Professor Ivan Klishch, the Vice-Rector for Research, opened the symposium. He congratulated the participants on behalf of Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of TNMU, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, and emphasized the need for improvement of Ukraine’s nursing education.

Eva Chechelevska, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Collegium of Mazovia (Siedlce, Poland), greeted the conference participants and presented the report on “Education and formation of the nursing profession in Poland”.

Tetiana Nikolaienko-Kamyshova, Associate Professor of the Department of Family Medicine, Dnipropetrovsk State Medical University (Dnipro, Ukraine), expanded on the urgent issues of nursing in the structure of the contemporary health care system, motivation and optimization of approaches to their solution.

Yulia Danylevych, Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, presented to the conference participants a very interesting report on “Methods of effective communication with patients in need of long-term care in nursing”.

Anna Bednarchyk, Head of the Simulation Training Department, Collegium of Mazovia (Siedlce, Poland), expanded on the problems and innovations in practical training of nurses.

The report by Beata Boratyn, an instructor at the Bronislaw Markiewicz State Higher School of Technology and Economics (Yaroslavl, Poland), was an urgent issue and informative.

Antonina Mozharivska, Head of the Training Center of Zhytomyr Medical Institute, presented to the symposium participants the report on “Innovative technologies for training nurses at the present time”.

Natalia Rudakova, a lecturer of the Department of Mental and Physical Health at A. Krupinskyi Lviv Medical Academy, presented a report on “Training of Nurses in Rehabilitation for a Multidisciplinary Team”.

Katarzyna Wiśniewska, a lecturer of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Radom School of Higher Education (Radom, Poland), expanded on the experience of patients in Poland, the values and problems of patient-centred care as a new trend in assessing health care quality in Poland.

Iryna Hrinchenko, Head of the Nursing Department of Kherson Basic Medical Professional College, presented a report “The Role of a Nurse in Teaching a Cancer Patient to Self-Care for a Stoma (Colonostomy)” during the plenary session.

The report by Professor Svitlana Yastremska, the Director of the Institute of Nursing of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, on “Importance of research to identify and solve major problems in nursing”.

Kateryna Balabanova, Director of the Centre for Nursing Development of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, presented the report on “Current State and Prospects of Nursing Development in Ukraine”.

The report by Elizabeth Burgess-Pinto, Head of International Health Research, Associate Professor of the Department of Healthcare Systems and Sustainable Development, McEwan University School of Nursing (Edmonton, Canada), on  “Teaching Diversity in Nursing” was very interesting to the audience.

Olenka Bilash, Professor of the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada), presented to the participants a report on “Reducing HIV Stigma Among Youth in Uganda”.

The report “Interdisciplinary integration as a goal and tool in professional training in obstetrics and gynaecology for students of medical colleges”, presented by Oksana Bahatkina, Head of the Cycle Commission of Professionally-Oriented Disciplines of Surgery and Obstetrics Profile of Kirovohrad Ye. Mukhin Professional Medical College was really interesting for the audience.

Christy Raymond, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Professor of Health Systems and Sustainable Development at McEwan University (Edmonton, Canada), expanded on development of nursing education through the understanding of how we develop together.

Raj Narnaver, Associate Professor of the Department of Healthcare  and Science at McEwen University School of Nursing (Edmonton, Canada), drew the attention of the forum participance to the issue of “Intervention Strategies for Improvement of Preservation of Anatomical Knowledge in Nursing Students”.

Liubov Bilyk, Vice-Rector for Science, Education and Postgraduate Education, Head of the Department of Paramedic Training at Cherkasy Medical Academy, expanded on the latest approaches to training of nurses for bachelor’s degree.

At the end of the International Research and Training Conference “New Generation of Nurses: Achievements and Innovations in Nursing” Professor Svitlana Yastremska summed up the work, thanked the university management, all speakers and participants of the scientific forum for participation in it.

The format of the videoconference allowed the participants not only verbal presentation of their scientific achievements, but also it was a platform for scientific discussion, joint watching and fruitful discussion of videos and presentations.
