International Students of TSMU Arranged the Nursing Home Yard Cleaning

Ukrainian and international students of I.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University are involved into charity. This weekend, on October 31, international students of TSMU arranged cleaning at Petrykiv nursing home yard. The weather was very nice and the young people spent their free time beneficially for the society.

Rising doctors from other countries joined the organization «Medicare and social welfare initiative» and have been engaged in volunteerism for a long time. For example, every Friday in “Caritas” they read blood pressure and glucose to everyone. The elderly, who come there to have free lunches, are always grateful to rising physicians for examination.

Ojiemu O.Jephthah, Gerald Chigozie Agbarakwe, Taiwa Elisha Priscila, Akharia Solomon, Suleiman Stephen Tamanuwa, Okafor Sherece Ogechukwu, Lydia Oladepo Ifeoluwa, Eneh Ethel Ogomuegbunam initiated the Saturday’s event. Ukrainian students Olha Yavna, Tatiana Pavlyshak, Iryna Dovha, Yulia Cheliada, Ivan Kudryl, Olha Rytsyk, Ruslana Panasiuk, Iryna Stanko, Illiana Hoda, Oleksandr Kosman, Yurii Shvorak, Natalia Oleskiv, Sofia Kravets joined the facilitators.

They say, that charity speaks the same language in the whole world. The youth helped the institution and also became close friends.

“Actually, we had a very friendly welcome at Petrykiv nursing home. The guys did heavy work. They picked up building materials into bags. The girls did a fall clean-up and maintained flowerbeds. After a joint work the international students invited us for a dinner which they prepared by themselves. We are very grateful for such care,” the fifth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine Illiana Hoda said.

During the conversation with the director of Petrykiv nursing home the students of TSMU found out that the home is always in need of help. The communication with its residents is particularly necessary. The rising doctors are planning further charity events.
