Administration of Ternopil State Medical University is committed to inviting leading Ukrainian and international scientists to give seminars to the teaching staff and students to facilitate their professional developement. On June 9, 2017 corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of NAS Institute of Cell Biology Professor Rostyslav Stoika gave a lecture titled “Intelligent medicines: development, synthesis, and application”, while cardiac surgeon Mogens Bugge (Sweden) spoke about developing a cardiac surgery program in Ternopil.
Rector of the Ternopil Medical University, Professor Mykaylo Korda presented Rostyslav Stoika.
Rostislav Stoika is a well-known specialist in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology. The main direction of his research is the study of molecular and cellular mechanisms of regulation of normal and tumor cell proliferation and apoptosis in animals and humans. He has initiated a study of the mechanisms of programmed cell death – apoptosis and investigated biochemical changes in the cell surface glycoproteins during this process. Dr. Stoika directs research on the use of nanoscale materials for the delivery of drugs and nucleic acids to human cells. Scientific achievements of the scientist include almost 400 publications.
Cardiac surgeon Mogens Bugge (Sweden) shared with teachers and students his practical experience of working on establishing a cardiac surgery program in Ternopil Region.
