Minister of Health of Ukraine Visited TNMU

On September 28, 2021, Viktor Liashko, the Minister of Health of Ukraine, visited Ternopil region as part of an external meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Council of Rectors of Institutions of Higher Education. He got acquainted with the work of the Center for Medical Simulation of Ternopil National Medical University.

The centre provides the settings necessary for mastering and developing practical skills by students of TNMU of various specialties. Medical students and paramedic students have the opportunity to hone their skills in emergency care.

Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of Ternopil Medical University, presented in detail the Center for Medical Simulation, the achievements of its employees, improvements in training efficiency.

Viktor Lyashko, the Minister of Health of Ukraine noted that the Center for Medical Simulation impresses with its technical support. He added that training and skills development with simulation technologies provide an opportunity to significantly improve the training of medical personnel.

“Our task is to provide high-quality medical services to the population. In such simulation centers, students can develop practical skills under close-to-real conditions”, said Victor Liashko.

Iryna Mykychak, the Deputy Minister of Health, added that she had been studying the activities of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University for two days. It was very informative and interesting. She met with sixth-year students, who told her a lot about their vision of development of Ukrainian medicine, the program of medical guarantees, pandemic response and vaccination. She gained very valuable experience from the the university simulation centre.

All the potentials of the TNMU Centre for Medical Simulation were demonstrated, in particular, the training process in the intensive care unit, as well as in the control rooms of simulation, obstetrics and gynecology, medical manipulations, pediatrics, virtual reality and others. The guests had the opportunity to see a workshop on emergency medical care during an accident on the scene, medical assistance in an ambulance and in the emergency department.
