Participation of the TSMU Scientists in International Scientific Conference «Agrobiodiversity for Improving Nutrition, Health and Life Quality»

Over 100 participants from 11 countries took part in the scientific meeting: from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. During the meeting the prospects of expanding the range of phytomedications,          nutritional supplements, which are intended to improve human health and life quality, were discussed. Much attention has been paid to researches reestablishment of understudied and forgotten herbs and fruit plants of different regions. The results of the research M. Shanaida presented as a poster presentation (prepared in collaboration with scientists of the Department of New Crops of M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine).

The conference was organized in scientific and practical courses: degustation of herbal tea, hive products with combinations of essential oil medicinal plants, lamellae based on new sorts of fruit and berry crops and so on.

An interesting tour to Arboretum “Mlynany” was a part of the conference. It is located not far from Nitra. The Arboretum impressed by a variety of species and cultivars of woody plants and aesthetic design of the exhibitions. The participants of the scientific meeting also had an opportunity to take an exciting tour around the town and its suburbs.

During the international conference Maria Shanaida had an opportunity to chat with well-known scientists about the current state and trends of nutritional supplements and medicinal herbs range broadening. Perspective research areas in the use of essential oil medicinal plants in medicine and nutritional technology were discussed.
