Public Defence of PhD Thesis in Nursing Was Held at TNMU

Another meeting of the specialized academic council was held at TNMU on the occasion of the defence of Khrystyna Novak-Mazepa’s PhD dissertation. The dissertation titled “Psychological indicators of health and their association with components of the metabolic syndrome in patients with arterial hypertension with different chronotypes” was presented for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty “Nursing”, field of knowledge “Health Care” (supervisor – Professor Maria Marushchak).


Khrystyna Novak-Mazepa presented the results of her research, noting the relevance, scientific and practical value of the obtained results, which consisted in increasing the diagnostic efficiency of the level of dispositional optimism/pessimism and daytime sleepiness and their relationship with the components of the metabolic syndrome in patients with arterial hypertension with different chronotypes.

  • chairman of the council: Professor Inna Krynytska, Head of the Department of Functional and Laboratory Diagnostics of Ternopil National Medical University;
  • official opponents: Professor Larysa Sydorchuk, Head of the Department of Family Medicine of Bukovyna State Medical University and Professor Marianna Markova, Acting Head of the Department of Sexology, Psychotherapy and Medical Psychology of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Postgraduate Education of Kharkiv National Medical University;
  • reviewers: Professor Olha Denefil, Head of the Department of Pathological Physiology of TNMU and Associate Professor Lyudmyla Mazur, Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology of TNMU.

On the basis of the public defence of the thesis, the members of the one-time specialized academic council decided to award Khrystyna Novak-Mazepa with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty “Nursing”.

Khrystyna Novak-Mazepa expressed her appreciation to the administration of Ternopil National Medical University for the opportunity to obtain a high scientific degree within the walls of this university studying in the research program of the European level and for the exceptional profession excellence of TNMU research and teaching staff.

Khrystyna Novak-Mazepa also expressed her deep gratitude to the administration and staff of Volyn Medical Institute for professional growth, scientific impetus and comprehensive support.
