Student Olympiad for Bachelors in Physical Therapy Was Held at TNMU

On February 20-21, 2024, the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University organized the 1st stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad for bachelor’s degree students of the Faculty of Medicine majoring in “Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy”. The Olympiad was concernced with the “Examination , assessment and control methods for musculoskeletal disorders” course.

The Jury included:

Head of the Jury, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education Valentyna Bondarchuk,
members of the Jury were Associate Professors of the Department Natalia Davybida, Liubov Novakova and Assistant Professors Uliana Hevko, Olena Vaida and Kateryna Myndziv.
The event began with a moment of silence in memory of those who gave their lives for the peace and freedom of Ukraine.

13 bachelor’s degree students of the Faculty of Medicine majoring in “Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy”, took part in the Olympiad. All participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in theoretical and practical aspects of the professional activity of a physical therapist. The Olympiad was held in one stage and included two blocks. The first block was theoretical, which consisted of writing 48 test tasks.

The second block was a practical one, which involved the demonstration of practical skills on the basis of a simulation training centre.

The members of the Jury objectively evaluated the practical skills of the students and identified those who showed the best knowledge and abilities in passing the practical skills of the professional activity of the future physical therapist.

According to the results of the Olympiad, the best knowledge was demonstrated by Nadia Bortnik (MT-302), who took the 1st place. The second place was awarded to Iryna Hreschuk (MT-401) and Pavlyna Romanova (MT-301). Marianna Nakonechna (MT-301), Solomia Kolodii (MT-302) and Natalia Bylo (MT-303) took the third place. All participants who won prizes were awarded certificates.

The Olympiad has become not only an important event for evaluating and celebrating talented students of higher education, but also a great way to stimulate their professional growth and development.
