Students and lecturers of Ternopil State Medical University worked as St. Nicholas’ helpers

To celebrate St. Nicholas Day, a team of faculty and staff from the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Human Health and Physical Education, on December 15 and 16, 2017, visited the social center of TCF Caritas, Petrykiv Regional Community Children’s Home and Center for Physical Rehabilitation Active Life.
Led by professor Daria Popovich, the team included assistant professor AV Rutska, head of the Rehabilitation and Educational Center for Children Renata Błecha and her co-workers from Żywiec (Poland), heads of the Fundacja InnovAid Małgorzata and Andrzej Rzepecki from Krakow (Poland ) as well as TSMU students studying Physical Rehabilitation (2nd year) and Human Health (3rd and 4th year).

At the social center of TCF Caritas, headed by Fr. Andriy Marchuk, the guests from Poland hosted New Year games for the wards. Later, the pupils presented the guests with handmade cards filled out with the most sincere holiday wishes.

Representatives of the Rehabilitation and Educational Center for Children and Fundacja InnovAid gave the children an incredible celebration, give the pupils gifts of educational materials, sweets and toys, while TSMU students gave each child a gingerbread cookie.

Wards of the Petrykiv Regional Community Children’s Home and its director MI Novosad greeted the guests with Ukrainian Christmas carols. The visitors, in turn, gave the children with special needs lots of presents.

During the holidays, the children together with their parents and second year students Iryna Skrika, Victoria Polelichuk, Ruslana Basaha, Valerii Obriadnyi, Rostislav Mirus, Vladyslava Filipova, Diana Mahur, and Valentyna Vinnykova were actively engaged in doing arts: painting pictures, coloring Christmas ornaments, and sculpting from clay.

At the end of the evening, children with special needs received gifts from the Rehabilitation and Educational Center and the Fundacja InnovAid: stuffed toys, sweets, and educational materials.
