On March 19, 2024, TNMU was visited by students of Ternopil Classical Lyceum. Rector Mykhaylo Korda and Executive Secretary of TNMU Admissions Committee Ihor Drach met the guests and talked about the topics which were interesting for them.

Lyceum students were welcomed by teachers of three departments of the Institute of Morphology – Human Anatomy; Histology and Embryology; Pathological Anatomy, Autopsy Course and Forensic Medicine.

Future entrants attended the practical session “Central nervous system, brain”, which was conducted by Tetiana Henyk, Associate Professor of the Department of Human Anatomy. She talked about anatomy as an educational discipline, demonstrated the functionality of interactive tables, pointed out the real prospects of using modern computer programs in the learning process. Also, Associate Professor Tetiana Henyk together with Associate Professor Yurii Havryshchuk organized a tour of the anatomical museum.

Associate Professor Ihor Yuryk combined stories about the basic discipline “Pathological Anatomy”, its subject, purpose, as well as the methods used to study pathological changes, with a demonstration of exhibits of the department’s museum (for example, a preparation of a liver with cavernous tuberculosis, a preparation of a thrombus of the pulmonary artery and its branches ). He emphasized the importance of pathologica anatomy in the system of medical sciences, as it studies the material basis of ailments and reveals the essence of various morphological changes in the diseased organism.

The informative program was prepared for the guests by professor Zoia Nebesna, Head of the Department of Histology and Embryology. Lyceum students toured lecture halls and classrooms, where they had the opportunity to feel like students, visited scientific laboratories, where they got acquainted with the specifics of working on modern light-optical microscopes, and were also involved in the production of cystological sections on a rotary microtome. Assistant Professor Natalia Ohinska spoke about the educational discipline “Histology, cytology, embryology” and its role in the professional development of a future doctor.
