Students of TNMU Delivered Lectures on Topic “All about Electronic Cigarettes and Energy Drinks”

On March 13, 2024, students of TNMU Faculty of Medicine Olena Iskra (MM-416) and Diana Malyshevska (MM-416) gave lectures on the topic “All about Electronic Cigarettes and Energy Drinks” for students of the 9th and 8th grades of Ternopil Secondary School No. 8.

The purpose of the event “All about Electronic Cigarettes and Energy Drinks” was to tell children and teenagers about what an electronic cigarette and energy drinks are, what substances they contain, why a person develops addiction and how it happens, what harm electronic cigarettes and energy drinks bring. TNMU students also presented the research aimed at convincing the children of the harmfulness of these things.

During the lectures, the children listened attentively and had a chance to ask questions. The most relevant questions remain the following: “What is more harmful: an electronic cigarette or a regular cigarette?”, “Why do marketers continue to sell electronic cigarettes despite all their dangers?”, “What is the harm of energy drinks?”, “How do caffeine and nicotine work? “, “Why can’t children drink energy drinks?”

After the lecture, the children made their own conclusions about the detrimental effect of electronic cigarettes and energy drinks.
