TNMU Ranks First among Medical Universities of Ukraine in the WEBOMETRICS International Ranking

I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University has once again been ranked first among the Ukraine’s top medical universities in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities which is a prestigious international ranking system (https://webometrics.info/en/Europe/Ukraine%20)! This recognition emphasizes TNMU’s aspiration to high standards of academic professionalism and quality and affirms the university’s role as a leader in the field of medical education and science of Ukraine.

The Webometrics ranking has been compiled since 2004 with the aim of analysing the scientific potential of universities, their openness and readiness to exchange scientific and cultural achievements, and the academic presence of higher education institutions in the Internet space. When determining the position in the rating, the following indicators are taken into account:

– Excellence (40%) – the number of articles by university scholars among the first 10% of the most cited in each of the 27 disciplines of the complete database;

– Openness (10%) – the number of citations in Google Scholar from the most cited 310 authors (excluding 20 top scientists);

– Impact (50%) – the number of external networks linking to the institution’s web pages.

The developer of the Webometrics rating is the Spanish National Research Council, which uses a scientifically based model to evaluate all aspects of higher education institutions’ activities – scientific, educational, cultural, social, sports, etc.

The success of TNMU in the rating reflects the efforts of the entire academic community, teachers and students to improve the quality of education, develop innovative programs and achieve high scientific results. The first place in the ranking is a confirmation of the university’s commitment to provide excellent education and educate future leaders in all fields.
