Ternopil State Medical University participates in implementation of a new joint Ukrainian-Polish project

A delegation of scientists from John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska (Poland), consisting of professor Maria Kozioł-Montewka, professor Grażyna Olchowik and Aneta Grochowalska, arrived on a working visit to Ternopil State Medical University on July 18.

The guests discussed with the rector of Ternopil State Medical University, Professor Mykhailo Korda terms of collaboration within the framework of a cross-border cooperation project funded by the European Union. Under the terms set by the EU, it is open to institutions of higher education in Ukraine, Poland and Belarus that are located within the border area, and this provision applies to Ternopil region.

The meeting resulted in an agreement that scientists of Ternopil State Medical University and John Paul II State School of Higher Education will work together to study antibiotic resistance of gram-negative bacteria, including Acinetobacter ssp. and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

 TSMU together with the Polish colleagues already implements a project to carry out with clinical and laboratory tests to detect the presence of Lyme disease agent in foresters and hunters of Ternopil region (Read about this project here ).
