The scholarship recipients are selected annually in the open national competition. Full-time students of 3rd to 6th year from all Ukrainian institutions of higher educational are invited to participate. Among the selection criteria are high level of knowledge, independent research, leadership, communication and creativity. Each year more than a thousand young people from all over Ukraine apply for the scholarship.

For the competition I entered my research work on Efficiency of corticosteroids in the treatment of severe sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome against the backdrop of severe traumatic brain injury. My research supervisor is the head of the department of anesthesiology and critical care, Professor Olexander Oliynyk.

In addition to scientific research, the contestants had to submit two letters of recommendation. One of them is from the supervisor, and another – from a person who can corroborate scientific activities of the applicant. The applicants also had to send a selection of research papers, list of awards and achievements, information about community activities, etc.

There are no restrictions on the number of participants from one university, so I advise my colleagues take chances and constantly apply for various programs. Also, there is not limit the number of times the same person may apply “- said Bohdana Pereviznyk.

Several other students from Ternopil universities also took part in this competition, but the scholarship was awarded only to Bohdana Pereviznyk.
