Ternopil State Medical University students served as volunteers for Youth Camp Virlia 2016
For the second year in a row students of Ternopil State Medical University practiced their medical skills at the Orthodox Christian youth camp Virlia 2016. The camp is located on Virlia homestead in Kremenets district of Ternopil region and has been running for five years.
Fifth and sixth year students Liubomyr Danyliuk, Iryna Dovga, Nadia Vega, Inna Bliakha and Bohdan Dovgyi took active part in camp activities. They gave seminars on first aid, sex education, personal hygiene, food safety, and educated on the negative toll addictions take on human body.
The students also provided paramedical assistance when needed. Their work was appreciated by all camp participants, and received praise from His Grace Bishop Nestor, who in recognition of their achievements has presented the future doctors with a commemorative cup during closing ceremonies.
Camp “Virlia” allows school children to find new friends, interact with youth pastors who talk about the role of the Church in the life of a true Christian. There are also workshops, games, bonfire events and trips.
The students have enjoyed their time volunteering for the camp and hope to return there next year.
