Ternopil State Medical University students visited assisted living house with a charity event

Department of Foreign Languages ​​ organized a visit of Ternopil State Medical University students and teachers to Petryky regional geriatric boarding house. A traditional event dedicated to the Mother’s Day, its goal was to bring some care and help to the elderly living in the boarding house, share respect and love.

Each person received sweets from the students. In addition, the teachers of the department and medical students donated blood pressure monitors, thermometers, and hygiene products.

Students prepared and gave a concert, reciting the unforgettable poems by Lina Kostenko, and performing Ukrainian folk songs.

Today, the assisted living facility houses more than 180 patients. Head of the institution Stepan Hlushok can tell life stories of every one of them. Many of the residents are war veterans, had been working hard their entire lives, and now become a one big family.

The students were pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere, the great care and dedication of the director and staff. Maria Hrytsan, Head Nurse of the institution, gave the students a small tour and introduced the residents.

TSMU teachers and students will continue to be involved in supporting this institution.

The care of elderly is a sign of maturity and humanity of a society. Working together, we can ensure that longer lives can also have better quality, be meaningful, diverse and satisfying.
