The Baltic University Programme announces  The BUP Student Conference 2024 The Baltic University Programme’s Coordinating Secretariat at Uppsala University and Poznan University of Technology are pleased to announce the BUP’s annual Student Conference for 2024. This year’s conference is entitled ‘Changed circumstances and new threats for sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region’. The conference takes place on 15-18 April in Poznan, Poland.

The conference is free of charge and open to bachelor and master students studying at BUP participating universities. In total, 90 students will be selected to take part in the conference.  

This conference is organised within the RESCUU (Resilience of Education: Sustainability and Cooperation for Ukrainian Universities) project which is focused on contributing to the resilience of Ukraine’s educational institutions during wartime and supporting Ukrainian teachers, students, and researchers. This conference has a focus on students and is open to students across the Baltic Sea Region.

The learning objectives for the conference are:Develop students’ expertise in interdisciplinary and intercultural communication.  Introduce and expand students’ skills in different academic activities; workshopping, debating, finding compromise, moderating, and presenting.  Present some of the effects of the war in Ukraine within various fields/sectors.  Problematise the effects of the war in Ukraine within a wider European context for students to understand the relevance and implications within sustainability science and their own country.Encourage students to become problem-solving thinkers, with a view to the future and continuing a sustainable future/rebuilding. Read more about the BUP Student Conference 2024.

The Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) announces Seminar on Scientific Publishing The Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) organises this seminar aimed at showcasing to PhD students the dynamics of publishing in scientific journals. This seminar, offered by Professor Walter Leal, will be held on Tuesday, 7 May 2024 from 14:00 to 16:00 CET.

Zaporizhzhia National University welcomes colleagues to apply to attend the International Symposium: ‘Current Trends in Natural Sciences’ This conference organised by the Faculty of Sciences, Physical Education and Informatics at the Politehnica University of Bucharest. Hamburg University of Applied Sciences welcomes colleagues to join the Seminar presenting results from the project ‘Nature Conservation and Conflict in Ukraine: Determining War Damages to Nature Reserves in Ukraine’ In this seminar, the Ukraine Nature team at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and partners from Ukraine, Poland, and Italy will present the interim results of the project. The online seminar will be held on 12 February 2024 between 09-13 CET.

They will share valuable information about the damage to protected areas, biodiversity loss, and how combat operations are affecting ecosystems or will affect them in the future.
