The Delegation of TSMU Visited Murray State University in the USA

The delegation of Ternopil State Medical University consisted of the rector of TSMU Professor Mykhailo Korda and the head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Human Health and Physical Education Associate Professor Daria Kozak. On September 22-27 they visited Murray State University, Kentucky (USA ) to expand international cooperation, to sign the agreement and to discuss the opportunities for academic mobility of teachers and students to implement exchange programs.

The delegation of TSMU met with the Murray University administration: the President Professor Robert O. Davies, Vice President for Academic Affairs Professor Tim Todd, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Don Robertson. The main purpose of these meetings was to discuss professional and scientific cooperation between Ternopil State Medical University and Murray State University.

The agreement on international cooperation between these two universities was signed. This agreement will provide the opportunities for academic exchange programs that promote medical education and research. The agreement signing ceremony took place in a friendly atmosphere in the presence of the university administration. The Rector of TSMU Professor Mykhailo Korda emphasized the necessity for cooperation between our universities and implementation of the strategies. The President of Murray State University Professor Robert O. Davies and Vice President for Academic Affairs Professor Tim Todd intend to visit TSMU in 2016.

The TSMU delegation attended and studied the work of the nursing school. They also visited student training there. Professor Mykhailo Korda and Associate Professor Daria Kozak saw the school facilities. The Director of the Nursing School told about the principles of studying process and financing of the school, the methods of students’ practical skills development in details.

The TSMU delegation also studied the work and scientific achievements of Chemistry Department. The students, teachers and scientists carry out research work in its laboratories at the highest scientific level. All laboratories are equipped with the latest tools.

The TSMU delegation visited the Biology Department. The scientists implement significant projects and make researches in molecular biology by means of the latest microscopes and laboratory equipment there.

During the meeting with the International Affairs Office staff the studying process, accommodation for international students and the possibilities of TSMU students training and teachers exchange programs in Murray University were discussed. The TSMU students’ training in “Human Health” was agreed. The TSMU delegates invited Murray University students to participate in International Students Summer Schools at our university in 2016.

The head of the Department of Applied Medical Sciences Professor Michael Kalinskyy discussed with the TSMU representatives the possibilities for students and teachers exchange programs, implementation of joint scientific projects between this department and Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Human Health and Physical Education of TSMU.

Ukrainian delegation was impressed by the facilities available in at Murray University Recreation and Fitness Center.

This sports center is fully equipped for swimming, volleyball, football, tennis and other sports classes, the students can also be engaged in different sections in their free time.

The Ukrainian delegation’s visit to the USA was fully financed by the American party.
