TNMU International Summer School participants returned to their homes with warm memories

With tears in their eyes, students of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University said good bye to their new friends, who took part in this year’s 14th International Summer Student School. The finishing touch of this event was the festive closing of summer camp in TNMU Recreation Centre “Chervona Kalyna”.

A week full of interesting workshops, trips and communication passed by very quickly, but the students managed to make close friends, they became one big family.

The representatives of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education (Biała Podlaska, Poland), Collegium Masoviense – Wyższa Szkoła Nauk o Zdrowiu w Żyrardowie (Żyrardów, Poland), Tbilisi State Medical University (Tbilisi, Georgia), Samarkand State Medical University (Samarkand, Uzbekistan), Tashkent State Dental Institute (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Lublin Medical University (Lublin, Poland), Charles University in Prague (Prague, Czech Republic), Mansoura University (Mansoura, Egypt), Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Chisinau, Moldova) have visited our university this year.

This year, participants of the summer camp had a unique opportunity to attend lectures and take part in workshops prepared by Professor of Akkon University (Berlin, Germany) Timo Ulrichs, a well-known specialist in the field of microbiology and immunology of infectious diseases and health sciences. The topics of lectures and practical classes were related to public health, health care systems in different countries. All students were given a task to analyze certain aspects of the health care system in different countries. After that, each group suggested their presentations. The participants were pleased to take part in lectures and workshops by Timo Ulrichs. It should be noted that the tradition of sharing knowledge and experience between Ternopil National Medical University partners has existed for several years and has a positive result.

As the inspirer of the project Nataliia Lisnychuk noted, next year the event will be a jubilee, so the organizing committee plans to increase the number of workshops.

All participants were impressed by the presentation of the country and the university by the students of Mansoura University (Egypt). They designed it as a theatrical performance, filled with interesting information. In addition, with the assistance of our partner Professor Dr. Hussein I. El-Subbagh, one of the largest newspapers in Egypt and the University’s newspaper published extensive articles on International Summer Student School at TNMU.

Representatives of all universities, who visited the summer camp this year, presented their countries and educational institutions. They took this assignment very seriously, as they had an opportunity to open their homeland for everyone. Thus, summer camp serves as popular cultural diplomacy and unites young people of different nationalities. This year, students of Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Chisinau, Moldova) came to the summer camp for the first time. They expressed their enthusiasm for the project and next year we will again welcome the representatives of this university at “Chervona Kalyna”

“The algorithm of the Summer School has not changed for a long time. It is best suited for each participant to have the opportunity to express themselves in different aspects – artistic, scientific, educational, cultural, sports, so that all delegations can present themselves in the best way possible.

We are very grateful to the University administration and all departments of TNMU for maximum assistance in the implementation of this long-term project”, – Nataliia Lisnychuk said.

Special thanks of the organizing committee and all participants are expressed to the staff of the student canteen, which provided delicious food and excellent atmosphere, in particular, to its head A. M. Kotsur and O. A. Homeliak. It should be noted that 13 participants of International Summer School are representatives of Islam. The canteen staff prepared the dishes according to their traditions. The preferences of the students who adhere to vegetarian nutrition were also taken into account.
