The Scientists of Ternopil State Medical University Took Part in 46th International Symposium on Essential Oils

The Symposium on Essential Oils was held on September 13-16 at the Department of Pharmacognosy with Medicinal Plant Laboratory of Medical University of Lublin, in Lublin (Poland).

The Department of Pharmacognosy with Medicinal Plant Laboratory of Medical University of Lublin, Polish Academy of Sciences were the hosts of the conference. The International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades, Polish Association of Aromatherapy and Plant Extracts Division of the Polish Scientific Association supported the arrangement of symposium.

International Symposium on Essential Oils is has been held in European countries every year since 1969. The President of the Organizing Committee of this year’s symposium in Poland was Dr. Agnieszka Ludwiczuk. She is Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacognosy with Medicinal Plant Laboratory of Medical University of Lublin.

The world-famous experts and young scientists from Europe (Austria, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, France, Serbia, Poland, Italy, Slovakia), Asia (Japan, Turkey, Syria), from Africa (South African Republic and Namibia), the United States of America presented their researches at plenary lectures. The plenary sessions were chaired by the leading scientists of Europe (Patrizia Rubiolo, Paola Dugo from Italy, Jan Karlsen from Norway, Gerhard Buchbauer from Austria, Eva Nemeth-Zamborine from Hungary, Tomasz Ligor, Stanislaw Lochynski, Kazimierz Glowniak, Wladyslaw S. Brud from Poland, Nicolas Baldovini from France), Africa (Alvaro V. Vilioen from South Africa) and Asia (K. Husnu Can Baser, Fatih Demirci from Turkey).

The delegation from Ternopil State Medical University to the symposium consisted of the Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medical Botany Professor S.M. Marchyshyn, PhD student of this department and the assistant of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya, O.V. Zarichanska. They presented a poster on “The research on Daylily’s  corns, flowers and leaves essential oil (Hemerocallis L.)”.
