The TSMU Delegation Visited Tbilisi State Medical University
On September 12-16 the delegation of Ternopil State Medical University visited Tbilisi State Medical University (Georgia) to expand the areas of international collaboration, sign an agreement and take part in freshmen matriculation. This delegation consisted of the rector Professor Mykhailo Korda and the vice-rector for Science, Education and Clinical Affairs Professor Stepan Zaporozhan.
Before matriculation the administration of Tbilisi Medical University had a meeting with the heads and professors of medical universities of Ukraine, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, Germany, Austria, USA.
The rector of Tbilisi University Professor Zurab Vadachkoria thanked all the guests for coming to Georgia to discuss important issues concerning the expansion of international cooperation. He said that Georgian hospitable land is always ready to welcome partners and friends.
During this meeting an agreement for international cooperation between these two universities was signed. The main purpose of this document is to establish academic exchange programs that promote medical education and research.
This cooperation provides short-term and long-term exchange programs for students and interns, young professionals training, joint development of curricula, exchange of teaching materials in basic and postgraduate medical education, sharing of clinical experiences, implementation of joint research programs, cooperation between academic staff and researchers of both universities.
After the meeting with the rector of Tbilisi State Medical University with international delegations’ representatives at the university courtyard a freshmen matriculation took place. The Head of Ternopil State Medical University Professor Mykhailo Korda in his appeal to academic staff and intended doctors emphasized the importance of medical profession, he wished the freshmen success in studying and persistent professional growth.
The representatives of universities of Sweden, Austria, USA, Poland were interested in cooperation with our university.
The Ternopil State Medical University delegation had a look at new university hospital and dental clinic and acquainted themselves with their facilities and work.
The visit of TSMU delegation to Tbilisi was financed by the host party. TSMU administration is very grateful to the rector Professor Zurab Vadachkori and director of the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education Professor Zaza Bokkhua for their trouble during TSMU representatives stay in Georgia.
