The TSMU Delegation Visited the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska, Poland

On October 19-20 the delegation of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University visited the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska, Poland. The delegation consisted of the Head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Human Health and Physical Education Associate Professor Daria Kozak, the Head of the Phthisiology Course at the Department of Internal Medicine Propedeutics and Phthisiology Professor Leonid Hryshchuk , the Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology, Dermatology and Venereology Maria Shkilna.

This visit purposed to expand international cooperation in research projects of the European Union and participation of TSMU scientists in joint Ukrainian and Polish projects “Physical activity and diet depending on medical university students’ lifestyle in the city of Ternopil”, “Physical activity and diet depending on 15-17-year-old young people’s lifestyle at schools in the city of Ternopil”, “Research on epidemiology, pathogenesis, treatment and prevention of borreliosis”, “Study on latent tuberculosis in the elderly and imprisoned”.

On October 19 the TSMU delegation met with the rector of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska, Poland Professor Jozef Bergier.

The same day our delegation had a meeting with the scientists of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska. They will be engaged into the joint Ukrainian and Polish scientific projects. Among them there were school principal Renata Krawacka, Professors Maria Kozol-Montewka, Malgorzata Tokrska-Rodak, Assistant Professor Malgorzata Wasilewska and others.

After the meeting Jozef Bergier and Daria Kozak were involved into the discussion on the projects.

During the visit, the TSMU delegation togeather with the Head of Regional Research Center Professor Marcin Vienera visited medical laboratory of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska.

The Head of the Innovation Technologies Research Center of the laboratory Dorota Plewok showed different units of the center and expanded on a number of microbiological tests performed there.

The next day, the Head of the Phthisiology Course at the Department of Internal Medicine Propedeutics and Phthisiology Professor Leonid Hryshchuk, the Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology, Dermatology and Venereology Maria Shkilna worked in the Innovation Technologies Research Center medical laboratory of the Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska. They studied the methods of serologic testing of Lyme disease infecting agent and latent tuberculosis.

At the same day, the TSMU delegation visited a new latest medical library in Biala Podlaska. The delegates of our universities were its first official visitors.

The representatives of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University also got acquainted with the work of the Department of Physiotherapy.

The next the TSMU delegation visited the Department of Recreation and Fitness.

All facilities are available in this center for the students to get engaged in volleyball, football, tennis, aerobics, mountaineering and other sports and different sections in their free time.
