TNMU Associate Professor had internship training within Erasmus + Staff Week program

On November 4-8, 2019, Associate Professor of Foreign Languages Department of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University Mariana Sokol participated in a professional internship program within the framework of Erasmus + Staff Week and in an international conference “Inclusive Internationalization” (Riga Stradins University, Riga, Latvia) , during which plenary sessions, skype symposia, workshops, discussion clubs on topical issues of internationalization of higher education were held.

On the first day of the work, a plenary meeting was held with the participation of the first Vice-Rector of Stradins University Thomas Baumanis and Director of the International Department of Baiba Peterson.

 

Many famous speakers delivered their reports: Gulsun Saglamer (President of the Turkish Women Rectors Association) “Women’s Leadership in Higher Education and Research”, Luciano Sasso (President of the Network of Universities of the Capitals of Europe, Rome, Italy) “The Erasmus Program: A European Success Story ”, Suzanne Corigoks (International Relations Coordinator, Sweden) “Creating a Multicultural Learning Agreement”.

   

Ass. Prof. M. O. Sokol actively participated in the discussions during two sessions on “Creating a Multicultural Learning Environment” and “Best Practices of Inclusive Internalization”.

On the second day, Mariana Sokol joined a panel discussion at “A Students Perspectives – What Does It Mean Study Abroad?” -of the international experts in the field of “International Inclusive Education”.

Ass. Prof. Sokol also took an active part in the interactive workshop “Achieving inclusive mobility in Europe”, discussing ways to implement “Inclusive Education” in the world and Ukraine in particular, which will contribute to the best positions of TNMU in the general education ratings.

On the third day, at “Erasmus + networking session and information fair” the participants presented their educational institutions, discussed the conditions for further cooperation, the possibilities of exchange of students and teachers, participation in joint international projects, grants.

       

The organizers, in addition to creating diverse scientific and professional information environment, arranged an unforgettable tour to the old city of Riga, and also showed one of their country’s jewels – Rundale Palace.

      

During this Erasmus + Staff Week internship, M. O. Sokol improved her own language competences, gained experience in the international scientific environment, in the field of establishment of internal university structures for the implementation of joint agreements, programs, projects, as they are an effective tool for internationalization and improving the quality of education of higher education institutions, and promoting the mobility of students, faculty and administrative staff.
 

The experience gained during the Erasmus + Staff Week internship, will be  introduced into the educational process of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.
