TNMU celebrated International Dentist Day

On the occasion of International Dentist Day and the 15th anniversary of the foundation of TNMU Faculty of Dentistry, a festive concert was held. This event was also timed to mark the centenary of the Ukrainian Dental School.

The founder of the dentistry in Ternopil was Stepan Ivanovych Cherkashyn, the first dean of the Faculty of Dentistry (2004-2006). Many warm words were spoken about this eminent scientist this evening. Also, the guests of the event honoured his memory with a moment of silence.

TNMU Vice-Dean, Professor Arkadii Shulhai spoke on behalf of the Rector, Prof. Mykhailo Korda, conveying the words of congratulation.

Professor Arkadii Shulhai also fulfilled the honourable mission of presenting the certificates to the faculty and students of the Faculty of Dentistry.

For years of conscientious work, high pedagogical and professional skills, significant achievements in educational, methodical, scientific, research work and on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Dentistry and International Dentist Day, Diploma of the Ternopil Regional Council were granted to the Head of the Department of Dental Surgery, Professor Yaroslav Nahirnyi, Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Professor Oleksandr Avdieiev, Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, Professor Mykhailo Luchynskyi, Head of the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry, Professor Petro Hasiuk, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Associate Professor of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry Svitlana Boitsaniuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Liudmyla Patskan, Associate Professor of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry Marta Zalizniak.

The most outstanding students of the Faculty of Dentistry were distinguished for their high performance: Vitalii Sahel, Mykhailo Yakymchuk, Solomia Kravchuk, Bohdana Pashchuk, Yaryna Tylchak. Certificates for participation in public life of the University were received by Halyna Kruhlytska, Vitalii Antoniuk, Pavlo Poliovyi, Khrystyna Kulikovska, Stepan Hnybida, Nadia Kysil.

The lyrical song was performed by Vladyslav Shkipor, a second-year student of the Faculty of Dentistry. A fascinating and moving dance was presented by a third-year student Inna Heval.

For two years (2006-2008), the Faculty of Dentistry was headed by Doctor of Medicine Oleksandr Avdieiev. He is now the head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, a talented scientist and a wise mentor.

Many lyric songs were played this evening, one of which was performed by a second-year student of the Faculty of Dentistry, Anastasia Kordas.

For six years (2008-2014), Professor Yaroslav Nahirnyi headed the Faculty, being an extraordinary personality, a talented scholar and a wise mentor. He is now the Head of the Department of Surgical Dentistry.

Today the Dean of the Faculty is Associate Professor Svitlana Boitsaniuk.

Humorous performances enriched the event. Roman Morhun prepared a parody of a famous Ukrainian performer, and other students presented a parody of the band “Lisapetnyi Battalion”.

Foreign students expressed their warm congratulations in songs and dances. Hubert Mikosza added academic excellence to the performance by the classic song, and students from India performed the incendiary bhangra.

In total, 2,300 foreign students from 59 countries study at TNMU. They are active participants in all university projects and public life.

The festive event ended with a choreographic performance with the participation of teachers and students of the Faculty of Dentistry.
