TNMU Held Multiplication Training “Improving Pedagogical Competence: Challenges in Times of Crisis”

The Centre for Improving Pedagogical and Professional Skills of Teachers at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University organized a two-day multiplication training “Improving Pedagogical Competence: Challenges in Times of Crisis”.

The training took place within the framework of the Ukrainian-German cooperation THEA Ukraine X, (https://en.fh-muenster.de/WWWeiterbildungen/thea-ukraine-startseite.php), a professional development program for administrators of higher education in Ukraine in the field of internationalization, which combines elements of training and provides advisory support in project management. In addition to the development of academic competencies and general management skills necessary for higher education management, THEA Ukraine X aims to establish a fruitful exchange between German and Ukrainian academics and administrators and to create sustainable regional networks in Ukraine.

After being competitively selected for the grant program, university teacher Sofia Husak was trained in the THEA Ukraine X program.

After that, in cooperation with Larysa Kalachevska, professor of the department of public management and administration of the Sumy National Agrarian University and Iryna Borovyk, associate professor of TNMU department of therapy and family medicine, they prepared and conducted a two-day training for university teachers in a hybrid format.

The first day of the training, on November 23, 2022, took place in the reading room of the university library, where all participants felt very comfortable and cozy, and the appropriate atmosphere and opportunities for group work contributed to fruitful interaction.

Communicative and pedagogical competences, empathy, the technique of active listening and effective feedback, soft skills, emotional intelligence are the key points of the training sessions, which were practically mastered during group work. Stability, adaptability, flexibility in times of crisis, search for resources were the final chords of the offline session.

The next day, the training was held on the Zoom platform, where Professor Larysa Kalachevska spoke in detail about all the possibilities of working on this platform and the teachers had the opportunity to practice all its possibilities.

Modern higher education, in particular distance education, requires the mastery of digital tools. In particular, Professor Larysa Kalachevska introduced us to the features of such well-known tools as Mentimeter, Kahoot, Picker Wheel. We express our appreciation to Mr. Larysa for the excellently prepared Kahoot quiz about our university.

The expert presentation on the facilitation of online lectures and the use of digital tools in group work was very interesting and informative.

The acquired knowledge will be successfully implemented in the educational process at the University.

The organizers and participants of the training express their appreciation to the university administration for the opportunity to hold the training, to the director of the library for comprehensive support in organizing the training, to SNAU professor Larysa Kalachevska for the acquired knowledge and valuable experience.

We express our heartfelt approciation to our heroic defenders, who give us the opportunity to work on our pedagogical competence in wartime!

Let us resist and we will win!
