TNMU Held Student Olympiad in Paediatrics and Medical Genetics

On February 7, 2024, the Olympiad in Paediatrics and Medical Genetics was organized by the Department of Children’s Diseases and Paediatric Surgery of Ternopil National Medical University.

The jury included Professor O.R. Boyarchuk, Professor O.Ye. Fedortsiv, Associate Professor S.O. Nykytiuk, Associate Professor T.V. Hariyan and Associate Professor N.M. Yarema.

16 students took part in the event representing the 4th, 5th and 6th years of study. They solved situational tasks in Paediatrics and Medical Genetics, answered the teachers’ questions, demonstrating their level of training, clinical thinking and refinement.

Students defined the main syndromes, substantiated clinical diagnoses, drew up an examination plan, performed differential diagnosis and prescribed modern treatment.

Cases of complicated pneumonia in children, paroxysmal tachycardia, diabetes, anaemia, bronchial asthma, acetonemic conditions, various gastroenterological pathologies, emergency conditions in children, phenylketonuria, Down’s syndrome and other diseases were considered.

All Olympiad participants showed their strengths and were awarded diplomas in various categories.
