TNMU hosted All-Ukrainian Scientific and Applied Conference “Women’s Health: Implementation of Modern Protocols into Clinical Practice”

On February 27-28, 2020, at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University together with Public Organization “Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine” All-Ukrainian interdisciplinary scientific-applied conference “Women’s Health: Implementation of Modern Protocols into Clinical Practice”, which is included in the all-Ukrainian “Register of meetings, congresses, symposia and scientific-practical conferences”. The co-organizers of the scientific conference were TNMU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology №2 and Department of First Emergency Medical Aid and Emergency Medical Treatment.

The welcoming speech was made by the Vice-Rector for Science, Education and Clinical Affairs, Professor Stepan Zaporozhan, who welcomed more than 650 participants of the event and noted that the conference “Women’s Health: Implementation of Modern Protocols into Clinical Practice” has become traditional and popular and each time gathers more representatives of the medical community. He also spoke about the health care reform in Ternopil. Moreover, welcoming speech was delivered by the President of the Association of Obstetric Anesthesiologists of Ukraine, Professor Ruslan Tkachenko and the Deputy Head of the Department, Head of the Department of Medical Assistance to the Public Health Department of the Ternopil Regional State Administration Tetiana Skarlosh.

At the conference, reports were made on the basis of the latest guidelines on important problems of obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, family medicine, therapy, laboratory diagnostics, rehabilitation, which provoked lively discussion and interesting questions. The results and possibilities of implementation of clinical protocols, new advances in the treatment of obstetric and gynecological diseases were presented by the participants from different parts of Ukraine: Kyiv, Rivne, Uzhhorod, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil. Doctors were able to hear information from the best specialists of our national science: Corresponding Member of NAMS of Ukraine, Professor Volodymyr Medved, Professors Ruslan Tkachenko, Vira Pyrohova, Vasyl Podolskyi, Valentyna Kondratiuk, Mykola Shved, Svitlana Heriak, Alla Boichuk, Olena Kravchenko, Olena Nosenko, Larysa Malanchuk, Stefan Khmil and many others.

Within the conference, six sessions were held in two days: “Current protocols in obstetrics. Problems of comorbid conditions”, “New technologies in obstetrics and gynecology”, “Rational approaches in obstetrics and gynecology”, “Achievements in internal medicine and gynecology – common and discussion issues”, “Scientific achievements in obstetrics, gynecology and internal medicine”. The section “Problems of the Organization of Learning and Interdisciplinary Interaction”, chaired by Professor Arkadii Shulhai, aroused great interest.

The participants of the conference had an opportunity to visit the masterclasses. The masterclass “Laboratory diagnostics in obstetrics and gynecology”, presented by Professor Svitlana Heriak, as well as the leading specialists in laboratory and ultrasound diagnostics Iryna Polianyk and Natalia Prokopchuk, barely placed everyone in the conference hall and called for a discussion. At the masteclass “Fetal vacuum extraction” held by Associate Professors of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology №2 Natalia Petrenko and Natalia Bahnii, more than 230 gynecologologists and obstetricians took turns to practice their technique on modern phantoms and to mark the peculiarities of the operation. Master class “Prevention of life threatening conditions in obstetrics and gynecology” under the supervision of Corresponding Member of the NAMN of Ukraine, Professor Volodymyr Medved and President of the Association of Obstetric Anesthesiologists of Ukraine Professor Ruslan Tkachenko, which focused on antibiotic therapy, antibiotic prophylaxis and thromboprophylaxis, clinical situations where participants independently selected and tactics and can anticipate the effects of treatment, was organized by Professor Svitlana Heriak and coaches, leading experts in their field Natalia Tytarenko and Inna Kukuruza. The audience gathered about 250 participants.

The latest achievements in science and clinical practice were presented by the leading specialists of this field Yevhenia Sharhorodska, Volodymyr Podolskyi, Inna Korda, Sofia Lypovetska, Olha Hervaziuk, Larysa Martyniuk, Valentyna Shadrina, Viktoria Dobrianska and others. In total, over 100 reports and announcements were made at the conference in two days.

Scientific results in the form of 60 theses have been published in the 88 pages collection of scientific papers of the all-Ukrainian interdisciplinary scientific-practical conference “Women’s Health: Implementation of Modern Protocols in Clinical Practice”.

At the conference, the following issues were discussed: modern scientific-practical and educational projects in obstetric and gynecological care in Ukraine, principles of thromboprophylaxis in obstetrics, new strategies of pre-eclampsia intensive care, management of pregnant women with iron deficiency aniemia, anemia autopsy, maintenance of women with pathological pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period associated with extragenital diseases, provision of immediate one aid in preterm delivery, TAB, modern laboratory diagnostics and screening in obstetrics and gynecology, the use of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory therapy, features of diagnosis and treatment of hormonal disorders in gynecology and treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases, new approaches to the treatment of proliferative processes of the uterus, menopause and postmenopause, standards of diagnosis, presentation of new clinical protocols for discussion.
