TNMU Hosted the 10th Scientific Symposium with International Participation “Immunopathology in Diseases of the Respiratory and Digestive Organs”

On September 27-28, 2022, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University hosted the X scientific symposium “Immunopathology in diseases of the respiratory and digestive organs”.

The event was organized in a mixed format.

The following scientific and practical areas were presented in the reports:

1.The latest achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of immunological disorders in Internal Medicine and Phthisiology.
2. Immunopathology in the case of respiratory organs damage.
3. Immunopathology in case of digestive organs damage.
4. Immunopathology in COVID-19.

5. Presentation of clinical and experimental research of young scientists and students (presentations in English).

Congratulatory remarks were made by:

The Head of TNMU Research Office, Professor Oksana Shevchuk,

and Tetiana Skarlosh, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Care of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration.


The first plenary meeting was held in the assembly hall of the university. 21 reports were presented at the meeting.


Professor of Ternopil National Medical University Ihor Hospodarskyi gave a speech on the topic “Diagnosis of liver fibrosis and the possibility of correction”.


Serhii Zaikov, professor of P. Shupyk National Academy of Postgraduate Education on the topic “Diagnosis of allergic diseases by doctors of various specialties” was specifically interesting.


Professors of Ternopil National Medical University presented reports on various topics, in particular:

Leonid Hryshchuk “Experience of using probiotics after combined antibiotic therapy in patients with COVID-19”,
Liliia Babinets “Possibilities of complex therapy of acute bronchitis in general medical practice”,
Oksana Boyarchuk “Cytopenia and hyperferritinemia – how to recognize macrophage activation syndrome in time”.

Reports from other areas were also presented.

Liliia Todoriko, Professor of Bukovyna State Medical University, presented a report “Peculiarities of the formation of post-covid syndrome depending on the severity of the course of COVID-19”.


Professor of Volyn Medical Institute, Yurii Valetsky, gave a speech on topic “The epidemic situation of tuberculosis in Ukraine during the COVID-19 pandemic.”


At the breakout sessions, 39 reports were presented, it is especially worth noting the joint papers of Ukrainian scholars in collaboration with scientists from Poland, Romania and the Netherlands.

Young scientists presented their papers in English, in particular Olha Pohorielova, Assistant Professor of Phthisiology and Pulmonology Department of Kharkiv National Medical University, presented her report on the topic “The effect of prescribing a complex of amino acids on the level of human-beta-defensin-1 as a component of the anti-tuberculosis immune response”.


Anna Dyldina is a fourth-year student of Volyn Medical Institute, presented a report on topic “Epidemiological situation with regard to tuberculosis in Volyn region”.
