TNMU Intern Doctors Discussed the Problem of Electronic Cigarettes with Ternopil Schoolchildren

On February 23, 2024, interns of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University Oleh Kuziv and Anastasia Horodynska organized educational lessons for sixth-grader pupils of Ternopil Academic Lyceum “Ivan Franko Ukrainian Gymnasium”.

The topic of the lesson was one of the most pressing issues of our time which is smoking of electronic cigarettes. E-cigarettes are a more accessible method of smoking, so it is especially important to protect children, who are the future of our nation, from using them. Children and adolescents often underestimate their harmful effects and, due to bright colors and tastes, perceive them as safe and interesting entertainment, a means of self-expression and socialization, therefore it is extremely important to emphasize that, first of all, this is a harmful habit for health.

During the lessons, the young doctors used didactic and interactive materials, and offered to watch a video about chronic diseases caused by smoking electronic cigarettes. In order to prevent psychological dependence on nicotine-containing products, we urge you to treat your health responsibly.
