TNMU is the First Among Medical Universities in Ukraine in the World Ranking of Webometrics

The next ranking of universities in the world Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics) for January 2022 has been published. It reflects the affairs of institutions of higher education during the second half of 2021. The ranking is made by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. The developers publish it twice a year – in July and January.

In the new rating Ternopil National Medical University is the first among the medical universities of Ukraine and the first among the universities of Ternopil region. TNMU was also sixteenth among 313 Ukrainian institutions of higher education. In total, this time the representation in the web space was estimated for more than 31 thousand universities around the world.

The Webometrics ranking has been compiled since 2004 by one of the largest scientific institutions in Europe – the National Research Council of Spain.

When determining the university ranking, the developers take into account the following aspects:

Impact – a combination of the number of external hyperlinks to the university domain (external inlinks) and the number of domains from which these links come (referring domains). The number of such links indicates the importance of published materials (most of these links are similar to citations in the bibliography).

Openness – the number of files on the university website in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) and Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) formats, indexed by the Google Scholar academic web search engine.

Excellence – scientific articles published by the authors of the university in the journals indexed by the SCOPUS bibliometric database that are among the 10% of articles most cited in their scientific fields according to the Scimago Group.
