TNMU PhD Student Took Part in “Autumn School of a Young Scientist”

Iryna Dovha, a PhD student of the Department of Surgery of the Academic and Research Institute of Post-Graduate Education, a member of the Council of Young Scientists of TNMU, took part in the “Autumn School of Young Scientist” on November 15-21, 2021.

The “Autumn School of Young Scientist” is supported by the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The aim of the project “School of Young Scientist” is to stimulate research activity, form a unique educational environment, as well as develop a young scientist as a socially responsible person.

The school was held online and was facilitated by the NGO “International Development Foundation”, who were trained under the British Council program “Active Citizens”, which aims to encourage community members to take responsibility for their own social needs and provide them with the necessary knowledge , skills and experience to solve them.

This program joined young scientists of various fields from all over Ukraine, who are the members of the Union of Councils of Young Scientists of Ukraine.

The training took place during 7 days on the following topics:

– Recognition of a young scientist in the format of “I: identity and culture”

– The value of intercultural dialogue for a young scientist

– Communication and methods of dialogue

– Social actions in the activities of a scientist. Planning social action and its implementation in the community

– The community. Scientist is an active member of the community

– Planning social action and its implementation in the community.

As part of the event, various projects were created, decisions were made and the answers to important questions of both science and the young scientist were found; the participants learned to present themselves and their projects. Interesting exercises such as “Elephant and the Blind”, “Listening by Three Levels”, “Project Cycle”, “Envelope of Ideas”, “Community Mapping” and others were shown.

These trainings helped to understand:

– oneself as a socially responsible person;

– becoming a member of the community and an active public figure;

– personal development as a professional who has the opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development of the world.

The “Autumn School of the Young Scientist” is a confident beginning of self-development as a socially responsible person, an active scientist and a member of the community. In this short time, the science united many young researchers, provided positive emotions and interesting acquaintances with young scientists from different parts of our country.

I express my sincere gratitude to the TNMU administration for the opportunity to participate in this event.
