On May 5, 2021, the fourth meeting of the International Working Group took place online.

Bringing up a responsible, talented person who is able to realize their own values in the development of modern society in Ukraine is essential as never before, because professional training requires moral norms and rules of conduct. The level of general education and professional training, professional culture, development of personal moral qualities and ethical standards determine the effectiveness of solving social problems.

Today, this problem is especially relevant in European countries, when gaps in social, economic and political aspects have a negative impact on the education of the younger generation. The virtual world has captivated different generations not only in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic in the form of online communication, but its echoes are increasingly affecting societies, people, especially the younger generation, promoting violence, indifference, cruelty, instilling moral relativism in everyday life. All this is the basis for the alienation of young people from the moral and ethical norms. European civilization is recalling the fundamentals of human development, introducing the discipline Ethics into the curriculum. It is a number of topical issues that are a subject of research in this project.

The project participants are researchers from Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Lithuania, Japan, China and Ukraine.

The researchers in education considered the number of topical issues regarding the analysis of development of moral and ethical competencies of students in different countries, consideration of faults in curricula for primary school students, study of structural components of textbooks, manuals on Ethics for primary school, making a number of suggestions for professional improvement of teacher training in ethics. The working group made adjustments and suggestions for further work.

The experts have confirmed the importance of the teachers work in development of spirituality of young people, because the content of education is a system of cultural and national values, a set of socially significant personal traits that characterize their attitude to society, the state, other people, nature, art and themselves.

The next meeting is arranged for July 19-23, 2021 at the University of Sofia, Bulgaria.
